I hail from the state of Punjab in India. India is a remarkably diverse country in terms of geography, Culture and sociology-economically. Same diversity applies to my state and hence, in my state also, the geography, culture and the social environment changes are observed even after a minimal distance of less than 30 miles. Belonging to such a diverse environment I like diversity and feel more fulfilled when surrounded by new people, in new places and culturally new environments.

Punjab: Mustard Fields Forever - Outlook Traveller

Punjab is a rich state in India with a demographic age mix centralized towards the youth. Major source of income for people is either agriculture followed by small scale industries. Therefore, the people there (Punjabi’s) enjoy both in the metropolitan environment as well as a countryside life.

People in my religion place high value to family bonding and still a lot of families follow the trend of joint families where the hierarchy live in a single place together. As a result, a major chunk of the Indian tourists travels with their families. Even the families that stay apart, have gatherings, and get together in form of tours. Same is the case with me.  Despite of the increasing trend of Solo travelling and the fad of travelling for self-realization, I still prefer to travel with family and close friends as I feel it not only gives us a break, but also fulfills the natural desire of love and belonging by spending time together with them.

The Psycho-graphic segmentation of our country also varies drastically. India resides people that earn enough just to survive as well as the people who have earned enough that they have reached the stage of self-actualization. However, most of the population there belong to middle class, who always are keen to opt Value for money options and hence, most people just spend about a quarter of their savings on travelling and prefer to invest rest of the money. I believe I am also a value for money kind of traveller because, I personally feel that staying in a luxurious or budget hotel or eating a fancy or staple meal changes the purpose of travelling.
